Back At It

After taking a week or so off after having a horrible two weeks that saw my bankroll shrink by 10% I deceded to read Harrington on Hold 'Em Volume 1. I got through the book last night and immediately jumped online to play a $10 NLHE SNG at Poker Stars. I was always a tight player but after reading the book I played a little tighter till we were down to five people. I din't think I showed down a hand until we were 3 handed where I showed Q,Q when nobody called my raise. The only hand I played to a showdown was the last hand of the tournament which I wom when my A,K beat Q,9. My bankroll is back over $1,000 again.

The Harrington book is worth its weight in gold. Time to get Volume 2!!!!!!!!

12/16 - Played a $2 multi atDoyles Romm. Finished 32/297 - money was paid to top 27. I then played a $1 turbo and finished middle of the pack.

12/17 - Played 1 Stage 1 at Full Tilt and finished 7th for nothing.

12/19 - Played a Stage 1 at Full Tilt and was knocked out early when someone with no pair and a gutshot straight spiked it on the river.

Then played a $10 SNG at poker stars. I get k,q in early position and raise to 3x bb to $60. I call and next palyer in makes it $220. I call and other calls. Flop comes Q,5,5. I bet $100 and get called by one. Turn is a rag and I bet $200, next player raises to $400 (who has been a maniac so far, losing 1/3 of his chips when someone shows middle pair and he has nothing). I push all in and he calls with 8,5!!!!!!!! Nice call pre flop with 8,5 (and no they were not suited). I am down to $40 and am out the next hand in last.

I then play $0.25/$0.50 NL at Full Tilt. I buy in for $25 and cash out about an hour later with $46. Thank god I am winning in NL lately. I should stick to that till I go cold.

Through 12 $10 SNG's I have 3 1st places and 3 2nd places for a profit of $$84.00

Total Bankroll = $1134.55

Went ahead and played a winners choise. Fimished 16th/61. NEver had more than $1900. Went all in with A,J and was called by K,6 (large stack). Flop came K, and river a K and I am done.

12/15 Results - One Hell of a Bad Beat

$5 Multi at Doyle's - 66/297. I tripled up early but got nothing late. With $4000 left and blinds at $400/$800 its folded to me in the SB and I go all in with Q,10. BB wakes up with K,K and I'm out.

$10 SNG at Pokerstars - 2nd

Winners Choice Satellite at Full Tilt. 26 Left and I have about $2200 (44 started). I get A,K in early position and raise it 3x the bb to $150. Someone in late position rasies it to $300. I call. Flop comes A,J,J. Bingo! I check he bets $500 and I call. Turn is a 3. I bet $600 and he goes all in. I am thinking worst case scenario he has A,K. I call and you guessed it. He has A,J. The river brings no help and I am out.

After that shit I go play $0.25/$0.50 NL and buy-in for $25. I get 7,6 off with 3 callers ahead of me. I call as do a few others and its 7 to the flop. Flop comes K,9,8. I am open endes. Checks around to late position who bets $1. I call and one other calls. The river is a 5. Yes!!!! Player bets $8 and I call. The river is a 4. He goes all in and I call with the rest of my chips. He turns over 5,5. Ouch. Tough beat. I cashed out with $49.45.

Played one $10 SNG today. Was down to $800 and 8th out of 8 20 minutes in (TPTK lost to 2 pr on river). Lasted till 5 left without doubling up. With 5 to go there are 3 of us between $1,000 and $1,300. I get As5s from the SB. Short stack calls. I call. BB checks. flop comes 3 spades giving me nut flush. Short stack goes all, I pause a second and call. BB calls (leaving him 375, me around $500). River is a blank and we both check. River leave a board of q,10,5,3,a. I put him all in and he calls with K,J. Down to 3 handed. We jockey back and forth for about 1/2 hour and I end up in 2nd. Not too bad for bad start.

I played only one $10 SNG at Poker Stars Yesterday. One onteresting hand came up:

In the 3rd level with $25/$50 blinds. I get A,K in early position and raise it up to $150. The short stack at the table with around $700 goes all in. A late position player calls. Judging by the way the short stack was playing I knew he did not have a PP. I push all if in with my $2,000. The late pos player calls (has me covered). The short stack has Q,Q and the late pos player has A,10. Why would you ever call 2 all-ins with A,10??? An ace hit the board on the flop and I KO'ed the short stack and crippled the other guy.

I kept the lead. Then 4 handed trying to knock someone out I lost and was in 4th out of 4. I battled back and won the tournament.

Today's Results

I played a $10 SNG at Poker Stars. I received absolute junk. I played 6 out of 50 hands with 4 in the unraised blinds. Before my first all in the best hand I had was q,10. Ended up busting out in 5th.

Then played a live NL $0.25/$0.50 game. I bought in for $25 and played for about an hour. I ended up cashing out with $39.43. Only played 2 hands.

I then played a Stage 1 token at Full Tilt. Built up a nice stack early and won a token. I think I am obout 8 for my last 10 in the Stage 1's.

Daily Update

Played a $0.25/$.50 before work today. Bought in for $25, cashed out for $25. Bleh.

After work I played in a $26/Token tourney satellite to a players choice $200 WPT/WSOP event. 26 entered and 2 reveived entries and 3-5th got some money. We are 8 handed (I am 3rd in chips) when the following hand comes up.

Early position calls (average stack), I raise 4x bb with A,Q. Late position short stack calls and limper calls. Flop comes q,j,4 with 2 clubs. I bet minimum. Short stack goes all in. Early average stack calls and I push all in with top pair, top kicker. Early position calls with ac,7c. What the fuck is he doing risking his life on a draw? Of course the ass clown hits a clup to eliminate the short stack and cripple me. I lose a few hands later in 7th.

Why do people risk their tourney life when they are at best a 30% fave to win?

After steaming a bit I play in another Stage 1 when the following hand occurs (from my post at cardplayer.com):

I was playing in a Stage 1 Sit-n-Go at Full Tilt. For those unfamiliar with this set-up its a 2 table tourney. 1st thru 4th get a Stage 2 token ($26) and 5th gets $4 cash. We are down to 5 people when the following happens: 4 of us between $5,000 and $7,000. 1 person with $415. 3 of us big stacks call. The short stack goes all in and all 3 call. Perfect to check down to the river, not this clown. 2 of us check into a flop of q,9,6. The other stack in the hand bets the pot! What the f... is he thinking? Me and other stack fold. He has q,4. The short stack has a,10 and LUCKILY his hand holds up. Why are people so F'In stupid???????????????????????????/

Playing Well

I had a little bit of time this afternoon and played in a $0.25/$0.50 NL game at Doyles Room. I bought in for a small $25. There was 7 people over that amount when I bought in. I only played for 15 minutes and cashed out with $46.44.

I then played a Stage 1 at Full Tilt. First hand I get K,K in middle position. An early player make it 2x the BB for $60. I re-raise to $200. A late position player goes all in. The early raiser calls. I call. Early position has A,J (huh?) and late position has Q,Q. Nobody improves and I am up to $4500 just like that. About 5 hands later I get A,J. Flop comes J,8,2 rainbow. I bet $100 and get called. Turn a 6, I bet $400 and get called. River a 4. Put him all in and he calls. He shows a hidden set of 2's and I am back down to $3100. I hang around andget blinded down. End up making the final table. Double up, blinded down again, double up and end up in the top 4 for a $26 token.

Played a $5 razz SNG and finished 4th. Kept getting 3 cards to a 7 high and people with a 10 showing call me. I then proceed to get k,q,j while they get 4,2,6. Frustrating.

Ended the night playing a $1 MTT at Poker Stars. 800 people and finished middle of the pack. What a waste of time.

Average Day

I am in The Woodlands, TX on a busuness trip so plenty of time to play at night.

I started off at FullTilt and played 3 Stage 1 tourneys. The best I did was bubble in one and took $4. I then playes some live No Limit and made back $7.

Went to Poker Stars and played a $10 SNG and won it. Total profit on the night of approximately $25. Not bad for having a bad night (at least till the end).

Going good

Wow. Where to start today. I can say that my hot streak is over but I am still up on the day. I won in some NL live games today and played my stage 3 token. I finished 3rd for a $120 add to my account.

Bad losses today:
I was playing a $10 sng when I get q,q. I flop a q and it all goes in on the turn with a large stack (i'm a medium stack). HE has 4 to the flush and hits it. Out in 7th. I nthe stage 3 noted above I have it all in with 3 left with a set of 7s. The chip leader hits his 2 outer and I am done. I also used a stage 2 token for a WSOP/WPT satellite and lost in average position, about 20th out of 43.

Keep on Rolling

Quite a busy day today.

I decideed to move up a level and play in the $10 SNG's. First one out of the block I finish 7th. I bluffed off half my stack early like an idiot.

After that disapointment I played a Stage 1 ($6.60) 18 player tourney at Full Tilt. Top 4 get a $26 token. I am sitting 11th out of 12 and am thinking here is where the rush ends. I end up battling back and when we get down to the 4 tokens I was chip leader. Nice little comeback.

I go back to Poker Stars for another $10 SNG. We get to the money and I pick up 2,2 from the small blind ($100/$200 w/ $25 ante). I call and the BB (chip leader, bout $1000 more than me) checks. Flop comes 2,5,2. WOW! I check BB bets 300 and I call. Turn is a K, BB bets $600 and I call. River is a 7. HE bets $1600, I rasie to $3200, he goes all in and I call. He has j,5 and is crippled. I was 2/1 leader heads up. HE see saw about six times before I finally win. Good start for the $10 SNG's I guess.

I'm feeling pretty good and play in a $5 multi at Poker Stars. 1,194 players and it pays top 20% or 216 people. BTW, I like the 20% payout stucture they now use on their small tourneys. I slowly build my stack and make the money. I blow most of my stack with a,j when an ace with 3 clubs hit the board. Lost to the flopped flush and am down to critical stack. I triple up and then double up. Back to a better stack. I then get A,Q late position and call an early min raiser (big stack). Flop comes a,7,4 with 2 spades. He bets, I go all in and get called by q,10 of spades. Spade hits the turn and I am out in 83rd for $12.54. IF could have won that one I would have been about 15th in chips and looking at a good cash. Oh well, profit anyways.

NL Live Game

Decided to dabble in a little NL micro limit game tonight @ Doyle's Room. I played $0.10/$0.20 No Limit with a min buy-in of $5 and max of $50. There was only one stack over $20.00 when I arrived so I bought in for that amount. Not much happening either way when the following hand occurrs:

I have j,10 os in the BB. All fold to a late position player who makes it $0.60 to call. Easy call. The flop comes down j,10,3 rainbow. I check, he bets $1.60, raise to $4.80 and he goes all in. Before the cards are shown I know he has an overpair, which he does with A,A. Nothing comes on the turn or the river and I double up. Per the Card Player odds calculator I am a 73% fave after the flop. I like those odds, especially when they hold up! I played another 15 minutes before the mass exodus from the table occurrs and I cash out with $39.81. Nice quick profit of $19.81 for 1/2 hour of work.
