AC Day 1 Results

I started off at the Borgata around 3pm. Wow the poker room at the Borgata is awesome. When I sat down I think they are six 2-5 NL games going, on a Thursday! Seats were very comortable, drink girls came by often, etc.

I bought in for $500. The first hand I play about five into the session I get A,K. There is a raise to $15, I pop it to $40 and the original raiser pushes for around $225 and I fold. After watching this guy the rest of the session there is no doubt that my hand was good here but with five hands in there was absolutely no read on his play.

I didn't play many interesting hands and chipped down to around $260. It was a lot a of pre-flop calls of $20 and $25, about 4 times with A,Q, hitting nothing, then folding to a $40 flop bet.

The first good hand of the night is when I had 10d,8d from the small blind in a 5-way limped pot. Flop comes 9d7c4d for an open ender plus a flush draw. I make a pot sized bet and get 2 callers. Turn is an offsuit jack completing the nut straight. Its checked to me and I bet $60 and get to calls. The board pairs the 9 on the river and I lead for $60 and a player min-raises to $120 and the other folds. I call and the other player has a,9 and my hand is good. Other guy who folded said he was on a higher flush draw than mine. Good thing it didn't get there.

The only other big hand I get as 8c7c from early position and limp. There are 4 other callers including the small blind and the bib plind raises to $20 and me along with everyone else calls. Flop comes AcQcJC. I call a $100 bet from the pre-flop raiser and all else fold. The turn comes an offsuit 10. The original bettor makes checks and I bet $200. I am thinking I don't want to see the board pair and I don't want to see another club. The other guy goes into the tank for a minute or two. I start talking saying "your set is no good" and "I will show if you fold". This confuses him a little bit. I pointed at the turn and told hom that the card didn't help me. He ends up folding A,J face-up and I show him the flush. I am happy taking the pot right there. If I am in his position I insta-muck his hand after I bet out the $200.

One other interesting hand was when I was dealt 5,5 in early position. I limped, someone raises to $25 and I called along with 3-4 others. The flop comes A,K,4. I check fold to a $75 bet. The turn came my five and the pre-flop raiser bet out $200 and all folded. I asked him if a set of 5's would have been good and he said yes. I am guessing he had A,K.

I ended up cashing out up $373.

After dinner I went over to the Tropicana. The Trop has always been good to me. I got into a $2/$5 NL game right away. There table was super tight passive and we were playing 6-8 handed most of the hour I was at the table. There was lots of limping and if it was folded to me in late position I would win the pot with a $15 bet. I got out of there after an hour with a $65 profit.

I walked to Caesars who didn't have anything other than $1/$2 NL and $2/$4 limit so I left. I then went to Ballys and there was nothing doing there either. I called it a night around 10:00p.

Total day one profit of $438.

I might spend Friday at the Borgata all day. Lots more tables and better action.
